Democracy, its Erosion, and what we can do about it.

Welcome to my Website! I am a Ph.D. Student in Political Science and Research Associate at the Unit of Political Theory and Public Policy at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. Previously, I was part of the Graduate Research Group Resilient Institutions and received a doctoral scholarship funded by the Gutenberg Council For Young Researchers. I hold a B.A. and an M.A. in Political and Social Sciences from the University of Würzburg.

In my dissertation project I examine why democracies experiencing an episode of significant democratic erosion survive while this is not true for most of the cases. I am asking here in particular about the mechanisms that are constitutive for the so-called breakdown resilience of democratic regimes. Furthermore, I am interested in questions of democracy research, normative democratic theory, and political institutions and in particular welfare states. My research is strongly theory-led and applies case oriented (comparative) methods.

On this website you will find a comprehensive CV, information on my research projects, and teaching experience. Thank you for your interest and please feel free to contact me!
